Today we sit down with someone in a cave who is also about to cave in in spirit, and as we do so, we search for strength from the Lord with them (Psalm 142-143).*
This morning we read Psalm 142.
“When my spirit grows faint within me, it is you who watch over my way.” (vs. 3a)
This evening we read Psalm 143.
“Answer me quickly, Lord; my spirit fails. … may your good Spirit lead me on level ground.” (vs. 7a,10b)
* If the inscription in the heading of both of these psalms (particularly Ps. 142) speaks to their actual author and context, then it is indeed powerful to consider “a man after God’s own heart,” David, as having been in this condition of spirit.
