this went thru my mind

Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newton, CT: * Nation Reels After Gunman Massacres 20 Children at School in Connecticut; * The God Who Cries When Children Die by Kurt Willems; * After the Sandy Hook Shootings: What Happens Next? by Caleb Wilde; * Profiting from Tragedy by James McGrath; * Three Ways Christians Should Respond to the Horror a Broken World by Ed Stetzer; * Enough! by Larry James!; * Mass Shootings In U.S. Since 2005 (map); * America’s Gun Violence Map by Noah Kristula-Green

* “A 20-year-old man wearing combat gear and armed with semiautomatic pistols and a semiautomatic rifle killed 26 people — 20 of them children — in an attack in an elementary school in central Connecticut on Friday.”

* “As we lament the loss of these precious 20 children and several adults, may we refuse to offer easy answers. As we pray, console, question, and cry, we are invited to throw our whole selves into the loving arms of a Father who feels our pain in solidarity with us. Remember these simple but truthful words: ‘Every act of evil extracts a tear from God.'”

* “Friday, December 14th marks the first day of a new normal for Newtown, Connecticut.  In many ways, this new normal is a sad birth.  In this blog post, I want to look at the practical side of how the next couple days and weeks will look for Newtown.”

* “I’m not talking here about the makers and sellers of guns, although they do indeed profit both at the front end, arming the killers, and then in the aftermath as still more people purchase guns in the vain hope that adding still more guns to the mix will make them safer. No, I am talking about the lowlife pseudochristians who say things like this: ‘Are you happy now that the shooter grew up in a school without God?'”

* “Let’s grieve with and pray for the hurting. Let’s call the world what it is– broken. Then, let’s recommit ourselves to living for Jesus and others in a broken world. Hold your kids, cling to Jesus, and cry out, ‘Your Kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.’ Maranatha.”

* “There should be no argument whatsoever about outlawing automatic assault weapons completely. Over 40% of the weapons sold in the U. S. today are distributed from Internet websites that require no registration or qualification process. Have we completely lost our minds? Is this what the framers of our constitution meant by the Second Amendment?”

* “In the last 30 years, there have been 61 shootings across the country in which at least four people have been killed. Eleven of those incidents … took place at schools. … Click on the interactive map below to see the location of the shootings, as well as more information about each of the incidents.”

* “After the shooting of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords in January of last year, urbanologist Richard Florida compiled several maps to plot the correlations between gun violence, gun laws, and other social indicators. They make for urgent reading after this latest mass-casualty shooting.”
