the Christ house: Matthew 1

The-Christ-HouseParticipating MoSt Church members are reading through the New Testament this year at the pace of one chapter per day. We call this project The Christ House (TCH) because as we read, we’re paying special attention to everything that is said about Jesus Christ. As we read, we also determine to memorize one verse about the Christ from each book of the New Testament. We call these memory verses “Christ verses.”

During the first 28 days of May, we’re reading Matthew’s Gospel. Come the end of the month (May 29-31), we’ll reflect on all we’ve read. The Christ verse to memorize as we work through Matthew is Matthew 16.15-16 which reads: “He said, ‘And what about you? Who do you say that I am?’ Simon Peter said, ‘You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.’”

the Christ house: letters of Peter, John & Jude

The-Christ-HouseParticipating MoSt Church members are reading through the New Testament this year at the pace of one chapter per day. We call this project The Christ House (TCH) because as we read, we’re paying special attention to everything that is said about Jesus Christ. As we read, we also determine to memorize one verse about the Christ from each book of the New Testament. We call these memory verses “Christ verses.”

During the first 16 days of April we’ll read the letters of Peter and John, along with the letter we know as Jude. Come the end of the month (April 17-30), we’ll reflect on all we’ve read. The Christ verses to memorize as we work through these letters are:

  • “You are being made into a holy priesthood to offer up spiritual sacrifices that are acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.” (1 Peter 2.5)
  • “… grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. To him belongs glory now and forever. Amen.” (2 Peter 3.18)
  • “My little children, I’m writing these things to you so that you don’t sin. But if you do sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous one.” (1 John 2.1)
  • “Grace, mercy, and peace from … Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, will be ours who live in truth and love.” (2 John 3)
  • “… for the sake of Jesus Christ …” (3 John 7)
  • “… keep each other in the love of God, wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will give you eternal life.” (Jude 21)

the Christ house: Mark 16

The-Christ-HouseToday’s reading in The Christ House project (TCH) – Mark 16 – marks the conclusion of our reading in TCH for the month of March. We’ll spend the remainder of the month (March 17-31) reflecting on what we’ve learned of the Christ thus far this year in our reading of Luke, Acts, and Mark. That means you’ll see the next TCH posting here on April 1 as we read 1 & 2 Peter, 1, 2 & 3 John, and Jude that month.

By way of reminder and review, following are the three Christ verses we’ve memorized thus far this year, one verse from each of the three NT books we’ve read.

“Your savior is born today in David’s city. He is Christ the Lord.” (Luke 2.11)

“… let all Israel know beyond question that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.” (Acts 2.36)

“I assure you that whoever gives you a cup of water to drink because you belong to Christ will certainly be rewarded.” (Mark 9.41)

the Christ house: Mark 15

The-Christ-HouseDuring the first sixteen days of this month MoSt Church is reading the sixteen chapters of Mark’s Gospel as a part of The Christ House project (TCH). Here’s a link to today’s reading: Mark 15.

The Christ verse for the month is Mark 9.41: “I assure you that whoever gives you a cup of water to drink because you belong to Christ will certainly be rewarded.”
