praying for a change (39)

So let’s press on to maturity, by moving on from the basics about Christ’s word. … We’re going to press on, if God allows it. Because it’s impossible to restore people to changed hearts and lives who turn away once they have seen the light, tasted the heavenly gift, become partners with the Holy Spirit, and tasted God’s good word and the powers of the coming age. (Hebrews 6.1,3-5 CEB)

God,

You fill up my senses. You’ve filled my eyes with your light and you’ve caused me to taste your heavenly gift and your good word.

You give me a place and purpose. You’ve made me partners with your Holy Spirit.

You empower me to live. You’ve brought into contact with the powers of the coming age.

And so, in view of all you’ve done, are doing, and promise to do, what would ever become of me if I turned my back on you?

Would there be any hope for me at all?

I don’t even want to imagine.

So give me this grace: move me forward in maturing in the life you give me in Christ.

Strengthen me so that I continue you with you always, never growing weak or weary.

As surely as you’ve changed my heart and life, may that only continue in the days to come.

Amen.
